Medical/Dental
The Southern Union Medical/Dental Department provides support and encouragement to the medical and dental professionals in the Southern Union. The Southern Union Conference is the only union in North America that recruits physicians and dentists in a team effort. Our Medical/Dental Council, along with the medical/dental directors from the conferences also join with us in our recruitment. The Southern Union Medical/Dental Council is a great team that is fully dedicated to helping young professionals make a decision to practice in the Southern Union.
Medical/Dental Retreat
The Southern Union plans and sponsors a Medical/Dental Retreat on the even numbered years. The Medical/Dental Retreats are usually held at the Park Vista Hotel in Gatlinburg, TN.
The next Medical/Dental Retreat will be held October 12-17, 2010 at the Park Vista Hotel in Gatlinburg, TN, we hope to see you there!
Barry C. Black, US Senate Chaplain, was the inspirational speaker for the 2008 weekend. The retreat began Thursday evening at 7:00 pm. Continuing education was available from 7:00 – 10:00 pm Thursday evening for physicians, dentists, and optometrists. Friday morning there was a golf tournament at Bent Creek Golf Course, designed by Gary Player. Some chose to play golf while others chose to hike in the Smoky Mountains. On Friday afternoon, three hours of continuing education were available for physicians and dentists from 2:30 – 5:30. Continuing education presenters included Dr. Neil Nedly, medical; Dr. Steven J. Filler, dental; and Dr. Jim Williamson, optometry.
